Sam graduated from Nottingham Trent University in 2019 with an MBiol in Microbiology, having worked on projects examining the detection and stability of the pINV plasmid in enteroinvasive E. coli. Following this he continued at Nottingham Trent to complete his PhD, graduating in 2024. During this time, he worked to explore trimethylamine N-oxide metabolism in human gut associated bacteria, as well as other projects exploring bacteriophage depolymerases and tellurite resistance in Klebsiella.
Sam started at Micropathology Ltd in 2025 where he supports diagnostic work as a part of the microbiology team.
