Dr Jinyu Shan

Post Doctoral Scientist in Genomics

Dr. Jinyu Shan is a molecular microbiologist and
translational scientist specialising in molecular diagnostics, bacteriophage
biology, and biomarker development. He obtained his PhD in Molecular
Microbiology from the University of Warwick following postgraduate training in
Life Sciences at Nankai University and Shandong University in China. His
research career spans academia, biotechnology, and clinical diagnostics, with
extensive experience in PCR-based diagnostics, genomics, and biomarker
discovery.

Dr. Shan has made significant contributions to the
understanding and detection of infectious diseases, particularly tick-borne
pathogens. He is the inventor of a patented phage-based diagnostic technology
for the detection of Borrelia infections, which has been licensed for
commercial development. His work bridges fundamental microbiology with
real-world clinical applications, translating laboratory discoveries into
commercially viable diagnostic solutions.

Over the course of his career, Dr. Shan has authored more
than twenty peer-reviewed scientific publications and book chapters and has
served as a guest editor and editorial board member for international journals.
He has secured competitive research funding as principal investigator and
collaborator and has received multiple research awards and travel grants from
organisations including Innovate UK, the Medical Research Council, and the
Society for Applied Microbiology.

In addition to his research achievements, Dr. Shan is an
active member of the international scientific community, frequently invited to
speak at global conferences on molecular diagnostics and infectious diseases.
